WalletHub: DFW Has Five of the Top 10 Real Estate Markets in 2017

The new construction market all throughout the DFW area is thriving right now, and if you don’t believe us, consider the fact that 10% of all homes currently under construction in the U.S. are being built in Texas, with many of those of course located in the Dallas area. 

But along with record breaking numbers on the new construction side of the market, the overall health of the DFW housing market is also quite strong right now, or at least according to WalletHub’s latest findings.

Ten Percent of All New Construction Homes Are Being Built in Texas Right Now

Want to know just how just how crazy the housing market is not just in DFW but throughout the entire state of Texas right now? Well, consider this: according to recent building permit analysis by Trulia, one in every 10 new homes being built in the U.S. is either in Dallas, Houston, or Austin. 

Ready for more? There’s also this: in 2017 alone, these three major cities combined are on pace to build almost 130,000 new houses, which is enough to represent more than 10% of all new construction nationwide this year. And as you might expect, each of these Texas metros are all in the nation’s top five for permits pulled, with Phoenix and New York occupying the other two slots.

New Bryan Heights Community Will Add 135 Townhouses to East Dallas

EKO Construction is getting set to bring 135 new townhouses to Grigsby Avenue near Bryan Street in East Dallas, according to multiple reports. 

Being called Bryan Heights, the development’s first phase will reportedly include just 41 of the 135 townhouses, which will all offer between 1,500 and 1,600 square feet of total living space. 

As one of the the city’s more rapidly developing communities, Bryan Heights only adds to the growing list of high-density projects already in the works for the neighborhood, which currently includes nearly 2,000 new apartment residences as well.

PROJECTION: Home Sales Expected to Rise Nationwide in 2017

If you think 2016 has been a great year for the DFW real estate market, the National Association of Realtors, as well as the Mortgage Bankers Association, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac, are all predicting that home sales nationwide will continue to heat up in 2017. 

The NAR specifically is projecting existing home sales will reach 6 million next year, which is sightly higher than 2016’s forecast of 5.8 million homes. Both the Mortgage Bankers Association and Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac also have similar projections, with the MDA predicting 5.75 million home sales and Fannie and Freddie forecasting 6.2 million home sales.
