Dallas-Ft. Worth Home RelocationDFW ranks 4th most popular metro to metro migration destination by CommercialCafe, a nationwide commercial real estate listings platform apart of Yardi Systems.  Using U.S. Census bureau data, CommercialCafe was able to determine the top 10 most popular destinations for metro to metro migration which accounts for many of the population shifts. 

Among the many reasons why people gravitate to DFW include natural resources, construction, low taxes and career opportunities.  The Employment sector in DFW is on fire with many Fortune 500 companies setting up shop and establishing new corporate headquarters including American Airlines, ExxonMobil, AT&T and Toyota just to name a few.

With this data, a few key takeaways were determined:

  • Dallas-Fort Worth ranked 4th, gaining a net average of 30,639 residents per year from other U.S. metro areas.
  • Houston and Austin also appear on our list, at #3 and #5, respectively.
  • DFW gained many residents from metro areas outside Texas, with a yearly 9,495 residents gained from Los Angeles alone.
  • The number of jobs in healthcare grew by 5.6% yearly, and jobs in natural resources, construction and maintenance increased each year by 3.5% on average.
