McKinney is widely regarded as one of Dallas’ top suburbs, and back in 2014, Money magazine even ranked it No. 1 on its Top 50 Places to Live in the U.S. list. Home to right around 140,000 people, home prices in McKinney continue to be pretty favorable to potential buyers, while the area’s job growth is also on the rise, continuing to make it a true destination for anyone in the market for a new place to live.
In addition, the 34+ miles that separate McKinney from all the hustle and bustle of downtown Dallas also provide a well-established buffer zone from many of the headaches that coincide with the urban core of the city, while the commute is still pretty easy and just a straight shot down Highway 75.Â

Instead, the latest large scale development to hit the McKinney area is a massive $34.5 million aquatic and fitness center, adding to the already vast collection of amenities and attractions that help make McKinney such a great place to call home.
When finished, this incredible new community center will be three stories high, have 80,000 square feet of space, and include a gymnasium, fitness areas, sports courts, an elevated running track, a child care area, classrooms, an indoor 25-meter competition pool, an indoor leisure pool, and even an outdoor leisure pool. And if that sounds like a lot of water, the total surface area of the pools will be right around 10,000 square feet.
As the region continues to add jobs and more big employers are moving to the area, it looks as if the race to make DFW suburbs as desirable as possible to attract more residents is well underway.
The new McKinney fitness and aquatic center is being planned for 3003 Alma Road inside Gave Nesbitt Community Park and construction is set to begin right away.
