DFW Single Family Home Construction Permits Down 4 Months in a Row

For at least four months in a row, single-family home construction permits have been down in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The latest figures come from November 2021.
In November, construction permits for single-family homes were down about 3.7-percent, year-over-year. According to Texas real estate data, builders secured construction permits to start more than 3,500 new homes.
Part of the problem is a large number of sold new construction homes in the region that still aren’t completed. Builders are still dealing with supply chain issues and some labor shortages. If they aren’t able to even start some of the new construction homes for a few months, they’re less likely to be taking on a high number of new construction permits.
