Mitchell Company. The firm originally operated a cotton gin in the building, and later manufactured air conditioners for vehicles and the ICEE soft drink machine. The company made missiles and artillery shells for the United States Navy during World War II. After the company closed, the facility was a popular dwelling place for local artists.
