In the 1990’s the area was rundown and the warehouses and old shops were renovated into a cultural hotspot.  If you go to 7th Street and Bishop Avenue, you’ll find the some of the best eateries, shops, and galleries. Here are the top restaurants to enjoy in the Bishop Arts District.

El Si Hay  - 601 West Davis Street

If you prefer a casual environment, try El Si Hay on West Davis Street. It’s a taqueria with no tables. You can stand and eat or sit in your car. It’s one of those hidden gems in the city and you’d only hear about it through word of mouth; they don’t even have a website. They have the best tacos and affordable prices.

Emporium Pies - 314 North Bishop

If you’re looking for something sweet, make your way to Emporium Pies. They offer slices of homemade pie in various flavors. Try the “Drunken Nut” their bourbon pecan,”Snowball” their coconut flavor, or “Dr. Love” the red velvet cheese pie.

Lucia - 408 West 8th Street

Lucia is the place to go for a quaint and eloquent atmosphere. Lucia is an authentic Italian restaurant.  Make a reservation because this cozy and tiny restaurant fills up.

Lockhart Smoke House - 400 West Davis

For barbeque lovers, you have to try Lockhart Smoke House. It’s unique in that they offer a no sauce and no fork policy. It used to only be in Central Texas and now it’s arrived to North Texas.
