The 27th Annual Children’s Health Holiday Parade is coming to downtown Dallas this Saturday, December 6th. It starts at 10am and will feature a parade through the streets of downtown. Presented by Pizza Hut, the parade features marching bands, famous characters, huge balloons and holiday floats. It’s an annual tradition during the holiday season and is a local favorite. Here is what you can enjoy at this year’s holiday parade.
The parade started in 1987 by the Adolphus and Children’s Medical Center. It had become a premier healthcare facility for kids in the US. They wanted to celebrate 75 years in business by giving a gift to the citizens of Dallas for helping them to prosper.
They decided to start the holiday parade to help kick off the holiday season each year. It’s been a success and has grown since its start in 1988. The parade changed names in 2014 since the healthcare system changed to Children’s Health; the parade is now called Dallas Children’s Health Holiday Parade.
The Children’s Health healthcare system has evolved from a pediatric medical center to a pediatric health system. Children’s Medical Center Dallas helps with pediatric health, wellness and acute care.
What to Expect
There is more going on than just the parade. On the 6th, you can enjoy breakfast with Santa at 8:30am. You can get pictures with Santa, balloon twisters and face painting as well as see Bonkers the clown. For $85 you’ll get a plated pancake breakfast, a photo with Santa and reserved bleacher seating for the Parade.
You can enjoy dinner with Mrs. Claus the night before on December 5th 5:30-9pm. She’ll have Christmas stories, secrets about life in the North Pole, and there will be a Christmas Craft Center in the winter wonderland where kids can write letters to Santa. They can build toys, play games, stir up reindeer food for Christmas Eve and try the photo booth.
On parade day, come out early to get a seat and enjoy the face painting, costume characters and music.
