The Best Dallas Restaurants of 2014

Are you making a move to downtown Dallas and want to know where the hottest places are to eat right now? Or perhaps you already call Dallas home but just haven’t been able to keep up on the food scene here in town, which for our money, is one of the best in the southwest.

Much like the Dallas real estate market, restaurants, bars, and cafés are always coming and going and it’s sometimes a challenge to stay current on what’s hot, and what’s not, when it comes to where to eat around the DFW metroplex.

Listed below are some of our favorite restaurants around the Dallas area right now, and whether you’re a local living in the city, or considering a move to what we consider the greatest city in Texas, these spots are definitely worth a visit the next time you’re out looking for a great atmosphere, and an even better culinary experience.

Scotch & Sausage | 2808 Oak Lawn, Dallas TX

The rustic yet contemporary design of Scotch & Sausage certainly gives this place a unique vibe that still remains casual. Having opened just over a month ago, this Dallas restaurant-bar concept is where you want to go for some tasty comfort food, or even some late night fun. Scotch & Sausage will be open until 3 a.m. on Thursday nights, until 4 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, and until Midnight the rest of the week.

So & So’s | 3309 McKinney, Dallas TX

A neighborhood restaurant and bar that claims to serve up “something for everyone,” there’s no doubt it’s all about the food here at So & So’s. Although the dinner menu, as well as the cocktail menu is extensive, this also happens to be one of our favorite spots in Dallas for brunch. No matter what time of day you visit however, you surely won’t be disappointed with the food, the service, or the atmosphere.

Pecan Lodge | 2702 Main, Dallas TX

Situated in one of our favorite Dallas neighborhoods, Deep Ellum, the Pecan Lodge is your quintessential Texas BBQ restaurant. Its new location, which opened back in May, is a 4,800 square foot space that has three smokers and room to seat twice as many guests than its previous location. For many who consider themselves barbeque experts, most would agree the Pecan Lodge is right up there with the best BBQ spots in the state—which in Texas, is no small feat.

Proof + Pantry | 1722 Routh, Dallas TX

One of the newest restaurants to open in Dallas, Proof + Pantry gets its inspiration from cuisine found all over the world. From amazing sea food dishes like King Crab and Snapper Crudo to hearty meat-focused entrées like pork chops, ham, or duck, the menu’s diversity is truly what makes this one of the hottest new places to eat in Dallas. Inside, the atmosphere follows the very trendy industrial, rustic design that’s hot right now, and in a location that’s right in the heart of the Dallas Arts District, there’s plenty to do before or after you swing by for dinner.
