Restaurant Spotlight: The Grape

Posted by on Thursday, April 23rd, 2015 at 8:56am

A wine bistro with plenty to offer, The Grape is fashioned after the many wine bars found across Europe and in New York City. This spot was opened in 1972 and has been providing plenty of great wine and food ever since.

The Grape was the first restaurant with a blackboard menu in the Dallas area and one of the first to offer wine by the glass. Many famous people have actually worked at the restaurant, as well. The list includes:

  • Alberto Lombardi - Noted restauranteur worked as a waiter
  • Julian Schnabel - Award-winning film director worked as a chef
  • Frank baily - Senator Kay Baily Hutchison's brother, worked as the original chef in 1972
  • Diane Teitelbaum - Dallas Morning News and national wine writer, was the first manager and waitress as the restaurant

For over 40 years, The Grape has provided food and wine at affordable prices. It has remained true to the original spirit and provides something you just don't find everywhere in Dallas.

The menu changes with the season. Some examples of items you might find on the menu include:

  • And More!

The menu also includes many desserts, such as crème brulee, dark chocolate terine, bab au rhum and more.

The Grape is also known for the brunch menu and was named as the "Best Brunch" by the Dallas Observer. Some of the brunch menu items include:

  • Steak & Eggs
