Caterpillar moving HQ to North TexasAnother big company just added its name to the list of companies moving to Texas. Caterpillar Inc produces construction and mining equipment and has had a home in Illinois for more than 100 years. 

Although the company has had some type of presence in the State of Texas for more than a half-century, the majority of its employees still reside in Illinois. Moving its headquarters from Deerfield to Irving is expected to affect 230 jobs.  

The company hopes it will improve its global access and help attract new talent in the future. The company also credits the region for its high-quality schools and for having a range of different housing prices.

Southwest Dallas Apartment Development in the WorksA new apartment community is headed to Southwest Dallas, according to new reports. Being developed by Miami-based Resia LLC, the project is expected to include 336 units and be positioned right next to the Dallas National Golf Club. 

Approximately 17 percent of the apartments will be affordable units, and the development will be Resia’s first multi-family project in the DFW market. 

With population increases and more companies moving to North Texas, the demand for rental units is only expected to grow heading into 2023 and beyond. In fact, Resia already plans to build 8,000 more apartments nationwide by 2025.

Dallas Fort Worth Home Buildings Pushing to Meet Housing DemandHome builders in the Dallas-Fort Worth area are doing what they can to try and better meet housing demand. The beginning of the year saw a slight increase in new home construction starts, even despite ongoing labor issues and the high cost of materials.

There were more than 15,000 new construction home starts in the first quarter of the year. That’s up more than four percent when compared to last year. 

Despite this, the housing market in the Dallas-Fort Worth area still faces many challenges. There are a number of people interested in buying a new home, but at the same time, the area is dealing with a shortage of new construction homes for sale.

According to MLS data, the existing home inventory this March in North Texas was only about 2,400

Dallas Working From HomeTwo Texas metros have topped the list for best cities suited for working at home, according to InMyArea.com, a Los Angeles-based company that compares home services available in markets all over the U.S. 

Based on technology and housing resources, the study concluded that Dallas and San Antonio scored the highest when it comes to how easy it is to work from home—something that has become much more significant to today’s workers due to the on-going pandemic. 

According to InMyArea.com's research, which involved analyzing over 800 communities across the country, low housing costs and access to high-speed internet helped both Texas cities score well and rank ahead of other top cities like Miami and Chicago specifically.
