Neighborhood Spotlight: Plano

Living in the downtown area of Plano is a very popular option for those coming to DFW. This upscale part of the city offers a historic area with plenty of apartments, shopping, theatres restaurants, museums and more. It's a charming neighborhood with a number of amenities.

The downtown used to have very little to offer, but over the past decade or so, it has grown quite a bit. Now, it's a very popular and thriving area found in Plano.

Plano downtown offers condos, townhomes and luxury apartments. Several historic neighborhoods are also found near the downtown areas including the Old Towne area, which features restored Victorian homes from the early days. The northern communities are also very popular with plenty of quiet living offered.

Schools in the area are a part of the Plano ISD and provide good choices, such as Bowman Middle School, Mendenhall Elementary, Plano East Senior High and Williams High School. All of these schools serve the Plano area and offer above state average choices for students.

Plano is known for the variety of restaurants ranging from the 15th Street Cafe to Fusion Cafe and plenty of other great choices. Some of the most popular choices are found in the downtown area and many come from outside the Plano area to enjoy the restaurants.

Residents can also enjoy plenty of shopping with a number of good choices throughout the area. From Georgia's Farmer's Market to the many boutique shops, residents enjoy many options.

Recreation is found at the ArtCentre of Plano, Courtyard Theater, Plano Symphony Orchestra, Haggard Park and many other parts of the city.  Whether you prefer the arts or exercise, there's a place in Plano to fit your needs.

As one of the northern suburbs, Plano is popular for new residents. It's close enough to allow commuters to work in Dallas, yet far enough away to allow families to enjoy a quiet neighborhood.
