Labor Day 2014 in DFW

While many around the country view labor day as the last true weekend of summer and dread the inevitable cold weather that’s soon to follow, those here in Dallas welcome the summer season’s final holiday weekend, as it marks the beginning of what truly matters during this particular time of year—football season!

But aside from celebrating a new year of American’s new favorite past time, there’s also a lot happening around the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex during Labor Day Weekend 2014,  and if you’re someone who has yet to make plans for the long three-day weekend, here’s a look at just some of the fun this to do around the area:

Bedford Blues & BBQ Festival

Are there two things that go together better than BBQ and Texas? We certainly don’t think so, and if you’re inclined to agree, why not check out the 6th Annual Bedford Blues & BBQ Festival that’s happening from August 29th through the 31st over at the Bedford City Hall Complex, located conveniently in between Dallas and Fort Worth in Bedford, TX. A three-day part that some of the best blues singers and rock bands in the area, there’s no better way to spend a holiday weekend than enjoying the nice warm weather, some awesome live music, and some of the best BBQ you’ll ever have! Tickets are $7 in advance, $10 at the gate, or $15 for a full weekend pass online.

 Dallas LEGO KidsFest

You don’t have to be a kid to still love LEGOs, but if you have kids, you might want to check out the LEGO® KidsFest, which is coming to the Dallas Convention Center on August 29th-31st. A hands-on LEGO building experience, this event offers a variety of fun-filled activities that range from a LEGO Master Building Academy to all kinds of themed building areas that will put your building and creativity skills to the test!

Dinosaurs: Giants of Patigonia – LAST WEEKEND!

It’s the last weekend for the renowned dinosaur exhibit at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, so if you’ve yet to check it out, Labor Day Weekend is your last chance. The World’s Largest Dinosaurs is organized by the American Museum of Natural History and includes specimens of sauropod vertebrae, a massive femur, skin impressions, and tons of other unique fossil finds. There’s also a very entertaining 3-D film that documents the pure size and strength of these massive creatures that once ruled the Earth.

Westfest

A Czech & Polka festival that celebrates the food, dance, and culture of Czechoslovakia, Westfest offers live entertainment, a parade, and a Miss Westfest Contest that’s been an annual tradition since 1978. Happening all weekend long, swing over to 1110 S. Main Street in West, TX for some authentic central European fun and enjoy one of the most unique summer festivals we have here in the DFW area!
