Affordable Neighborhoods in Dallas

With DFW home prices at record levels right now, many home buyers, especially first-timers, are finding themselves looking for a home or condo that’s located in perhaps more of an up-and-coming part of town rather than a trendy, already-established neighborhood that features more expensive housing.

The real estate market in Dallas is much like any other major market, in that location is often a top-priority for many active buyers browsing active homes for sale. But with market conditions scorching hot right now and inventory quite low in most parts of town, it doesn’t hurt to think outside the box every now and then in hopes of finding a great deal, or even a home or condo that could have a great long-term value.

So if a value play might sound like a direction you need to take, lots of neighborhoods around town might first come to mind, but to find a great deal on an affordable single-family home, townhouse or condo, here are a few Dallas neighborhoods that might just be the best place to begin your search in today's marketplace:

Oak Lawn:

We all know how crazy things are in Uptown Dallas right now, so if you’re working with more of a budget or may want more bang for your buck, why not just live a bit further north in Oak Lawn? Prices can be considerably lower and you’ll still be able to enjoy all that Uptown offers from a rather close proximity.

Downtown:

It takes a special kind of home buyer who wants to live right in the heart of the city. Not everybody appreciates the constant hustle-and-bustle, while many also want a bit more privacy and space to coincide with their new home. As a result, great deals can almost always be found around downtown Dallas. Oh, and if you work downtown, you can also walk to work, which can also save you some bucks!

East Dallas:

Because East Dallas encompasses a fairly broad area, yes, there are plenty go high-end, luxury properties that certainly won’t qualify as “affordable” to many of today’s home buyers. But that doesn’t mean you can find a great deal on a new home or condo here. And what also makes East Dallas real estate attractive is the overall variety of housing here. Whether you’re looking for a loft in Deep Ellum or an affordable single-family home in the Claremont neighborhood, you’re bound to find something you like at the price you need here in East Dallas.
